After the form is submitted, I’ll reach out to you within 2 business days to schedule the initial consultation.
2. Initial Consultation
During the initial consultation, we will discuss:
Size, orientation and anticipated hanging location
Overall design, key features
Color palette preference (you can refer to my other paintings for inspiration, or bring your own photos)
Finish and framing options
Timelines, any questions you have
Form: video call; or in person, if you’re in San Francisco Bay Area. This will provide context of
Duration: 30 minutes and up to an hour.
Consultation is free of charge.
3. Sign Agreement
Following the consultation, I’ll send you the finalized quote based on our discussion. Usually this takes 1-2 business days.
If you’d like to proceed, we will sign a commission agreement. And a 40% deposit is required to secure the spot and to start the mock-up sketch.

4. Preliminary Sketch
I will create a small-scale color sketch for approval before starting the actual commission work. I may contact you via email or text for more input during this process.
We may have a video call after the initial sketch to discuss any revision request.
One free revision is included.
Initial round of preliminary sketch takes 1 week. Each round of revision takes 3-5 days. Larger painting and more detailed sketch may take longer.
A 40% progress payment is required upon mock-up approval to start the final painting.
5. Finish & Delivery
Final painting may take 1-3 weeks to finish.
Upon finish the painting, I will send you a photo or short video for approval.
Minor things can be adjusted. Please understand there’s limitation imposed by the watercolor media for changes.
The remaining 20% is due before shipping.

The sizes below are standard and suggestive. I can make any size you like.

Notes:
All paper listed above are 140 lbs 100% cotton cold-press professional grade watercolor paper. 140 lbs paper is considered medium thickness.
For “Paper stretched on wood frame” and “Paper mounted on wood panel”, UV protection and wax varnish are included in the price. Wax varnish dries Matt and it makes the surface waterproof. These two options don’t need a glass or plastic shield over them.
Wood panels available in two different depth: 7/8” deep and 1-5/8” deep. For size over 24”2-1/2” deep panel is available (Add around $30-$50 depending on size)

Normally, from initial consultation (step 2) to preliminary sketch approval (step 4) takes 2 weeks.
Factor that can increase this process: bigger paintings (either side over 20”/ 50cm), complicated designs, or full scale or detailed sketches, multiple revisions.
Final painting takes 1-3 weeks to complete.

Usually 5” x 8” or 8” x 11”
For bigger and more complexed paintings, I may elect to do a 12” x 16” sketch.

After the first free revision, for sketch less than 8” x 11”, each additional revision costs $50.
For sketch larger than that, each revision costs $80.

The commission can be canceled at any stage. Only deposit is refundable under certain terms. (See deposit refund policy for details.) The progress payment and final payment are not refundable once paid.
Before the starting date, the commission can be cancelled by either you (the client) or me (the artist). If I canceled the commission, I will refund the full amount of the deposit regardless if any material has been purchased.

Deposit for starting the work is fully refundable before the start date of the scheduled commission work, given the following condition(s):
No specific material has been purchased for the commission. I will notify you if any special materials need to be purchased for the commission in the final quote.
In case any material has been purchased, if the material is returnable, the portion of deposit less restocking fee can be refunded; If the material is not returnable, the portion of deposit less the material cost can be returnable.
On and after the starting date, the deposit is not refundable, regardless if the preliminary sketch has been done. This is to cover the lost opportunity.
